Government of India Orders and Circulars

Second dose Interval of Covishield Vaccination for International Travelers

The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has received several representations for allowing administration of a second dose of Covishield for such persons who have only taken the first dose of Covishield and are seeking to undertake international travel for educational purposes or employment opportunities or as part of India’s contingent for Tokyo Olympic Games, but whose planned travel dates fall prior to completion of the currently mandated minimum interval of 84 days from the date of the first dose.

Therefore, with a view to provide full coverage of vaccination and facilitating international travel for such genuine reasons, the Ministry has issued the SOPs for the same and allowed to administer the second dose after 28 days has elapsed from the first dose.

The travelers should also provide the declaration form (Page 3 of PDF ) to the Vaccination authority during the administration of the second dose. A certificate will also be provided in addition to the Cowin Vaccination certificate for citizens who have vaccinated before 84 days.
