- Two weeks after Diwali, cases at a 17-month low
Signs of a spike in India’s Covid-19 cases in the post-Diwali week have since dissipated in most states, with the country posting its lowest weekly tally of infections in over 17 months, reports Amit Bhattacharya. India recorded less than 72,000 cases in the current week (Nov 15-21), making it the lowest point in the pandemic since early June last year.

Karnataka on Sunday reported 247 new cases of COVID-19. With this, the total number of positives stood at 29,93,599. With 134 new positives, Bengaluru Urban continued to account for the majority of cases in the State.

In the last seven days, the state conducted some 5.72 lakh tests and found 1,749 cases. Two weeks ago (November 8 to 14), 7.15 lakh tests were conducted which yielded 1,898 new cases.
