- India sets record with 2.5 cr. COVID-19 shots in one day
India administered a record 2.5 crore COVID vaccination doses on Friday by midnight. In a late night tweet, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, “Making historic record, India administers 2.5 crore vaccinations today. The nation has risen in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday”.
- Wards see rise in children with respiratory infections
The paediatric ward and ICU of KC General Hospital, Malleswaram, is filled to capacity. A majority of children aged 0-5 years suffer from lower respiratory tract infections, which are being reported by other hospitals in the city too.

Karnataka set a new record on the vaccination front on Friday by administering 27,80,032 COVID-19 vaccine doses by 9.30 p.m. during the mega vaccination drive, the second highest in the country.

- School fee row: HC gives partial relief to parents, private schools
Giving partial relief to both the managements of private unaided schools and parents of students in such institutions, the High Court of Karnataka has directed the schools to give 15% discount in fee for the academic year 2020-21 in lieu of underutilised facilities during the relevant period of that academic year.
- Petrol, diesel will not come under GST: Sitharaman
The GST Council on Friday decided to keep petrol and diesel outside the ambit of GST, extended exemption on payment of tax on life-saving Covid-19 drugs and levied a 5% GST on food delivery platforms like Swiggy and Zomato. But the Centre said a firm no on payment of GST compensation to states beyond July 2022.

- Karnataka govt moves Bill to ban online gambling, moots three-year jail term
Following the September 4 cabinet decision, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra tabled an important Bill in the Assembly on Friday which seeks to ban online gambling or betting on mobile phone applications by amending the Karnataka Police Act, 1963. However, lottery and betting on horse races will be exempted.
