Karnataka on Wednesday reported 293 new cases of COVID-19. With this the total number of positive cases rose to 29,90,528. Bengaluru Urban district recorded 187 fresh cases, the maximum across the State.

With activities resuming after Diwali, Covid-19 cases in Gujarat more than doubled within 24 hours with 42 cases reported on Wednesday. According to the state bulletin, the figures were 29 and 20 on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

The WHO reported on Wednesday that coronavirus deaths rose by 10% in Europe in the past week, making it the only world region where both Covid-19 cases and deaths are steadily increasing. It was the sixth consecutive week that the virus has risen across the continent.

About 900,000 kids aged 5-11 have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in their first week of eligibility, the White House said on Wednesday. Final clearance for the shots was granted by federal regulators on November 2, with the first doses to kids beginning in some locations the following day.
